Some days things go just the way that you want them to. Others, seem to have a life of their own. They plan your events and take you along. Some might call that responsibility. I prefer to think of it as the adventure God has called me to. The last few days have been packed. Not so much with painting, more with just life.
I joined a Bible study at my church this week. I wasn’t exactly sure why I was signing up for it, but I really felt like that was where I needed to be. It is a 7 week study on the basics of life as a Christian. Last night we went over the basics of how to become a Christian. The central verse was John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have eternal life.”
I’ve been a Christian since I was eight, so I was thinking, “Why am I here? I know this.” But then I really listened to my pastor, and I focused in on one word, believe. It isn’t past tense. I have to continue that act of believing him each day. Anyway, it was such a peaceful feeling to remember, I was not alone. I belong to him.
Over the past few weeks, I have picked up the exercise of couponing. I can’t tell you how much I used to hate them. I had to carry around all of these scraps of paper, and remember to take them with me. Then, I had to find the exact one that matched what I wanted. Plus there is the going to buy the paper. There is the cutting of the coupons. Then you have to remember to sort through and pull out the expired coupons. It is incredibly time-consuming, and I never really found it productive.
I started gathering and then subscribed to www.grocerygame.com. It helps you combine coupons with the local sales. Today, I went shopping. I bought $441.72 worth of groceries. I was amazed when my savings came off by combining coupons and sales. I only spent $260.51. I saved $181.21, which is over 40%. I don’t want to spend 40 hours a week couponing, like those people on TLC, but I am pretty pleased with that amount.
This evening my daughter and I signed up for a class together at a new little studio by my house, called Picasso and Wine in Windsor, CO. We are going to paint some silly blue abtract flower thingys. Anyway, I think it will be a lot of fun. I’ll let you know how it is.
